College for the following experience:
This South Dakota Humanities Teacher Institute workshop will provide the opportunity to experience the stories, places and people of the historic Lakota in order to understand the social, emotional and economic complexities of Lakota life today. This in-depth knowledge will enhance authentic teaching and ultimately deepen learning by the children in each teacher’s classroom. See a complete itinerary. Workshop Headquarters: Herrick
Elevator, Herrick SD The 5-day workshop includes presentations, discussions, journaling and daily field trips. The workshop begins Monday, July 18 at 8am and ends Friday, July 22 around noon. Participants who elect to earn credit will complete an Extension Registration card, available at the workshop. Workshop coordinator will return cards and payment to Augustana College. Augustana will issue official transcripts upon written request. This project is sponsored by South Dakota Humanities, Burke Community Foundation, and the Burke-Herrick-Lucas Chapter of the Gregory County Historical Society.
