Elevator History  A great article by Bruce and Barbara Selyem about Herrick's first built and last remaining elevator. Herrick History begins in 1904 when the western portion of Gregory Co. was opened for settlement. Gregory County History got a little complicated.  Here's some important dates:  1892, 1898, 1904. Lewis & Clark traveled up the Missouri 30 miles north.  Shannon was found in northern Gregory Co. The Great Sioux Nation was here until 1904.  Check out the Rosebud Sioux Tribe at this link.
